At the PRINTMAKER studios in Reading, Berkshire UK, we produce fine art giclée prints. These are digitally printed on our large format Canon Pro4000 machines. We work and collaborate with artists, printmakers, illustrators, photographers and designers.
We can work with your print-ready files or scan your originals. We offer a print-on-demand service or we can supply a complete fine art edition.
The giclee process is ideal for short runs, one-offs and print-on-demand situations where you might just want to print a partial edition.
We offer a wide range of printmaking, photographic and watercolour papers.
We have over 25 years experience in collaborative editioning for printmakers, photographers and artists working with traditional and digital media. Our expertise in art reproduction for professional artists and illustrators also pre-dates the digital era.
For artwork in digital format, we can handle EPS and PDF format for vector files and we use TIFF or JPEG files for scans and photographs.
What is a giclee print?
Giclée is a French word meaning squirt or spray and although it describes the inkjet printing process succinctly, the term first came into use to describe "Iris" prints or high quality digital proofs for lithographic printers that could mimic the inking profile of a wet proof.
The currently held criteria to describe a giclee print is that it should be printed at a high resolution and using pigmented inks that are lightfast, waterfast and are transferred by inkjet onto an archival substrate such as an acid free paper or canvas.
